Maria M. Guerra

Maria M. (DeFinis) Guerra, 88, passed away peacefully at her home in Lincoln surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, August 7, 2021. She was the beloved wife of 61 years to the late Antonio Guerra.

Born and raised in Foggia, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Filomena (Castriotta) DeFinis. She was the sister of Anna DeFinis and predeceased by 6 brothers.

Maria was blessed with 9 Children, Matthew Guerra, Marie Marcello, Virginia Thomas and husband Anthony, Thomas Guerra and wife Susan, Gina Tracy and husband David, Joanne Guerra, Marisa Nero and husband Kevin, James Guerra and wife Virginia and the late Anthony Guerra.

Nonna Maria’s pride and joy of her life were her grandchildren, Giana, Anthony and wife Jen, Deana and husband Damian, Erica and husband Giannis, Tony, Andrew, Alexander, Jeffrey and wife Colleen, Kimberly, Gian, Justin, Alexa, Alec, Cheri and Matthew. She was also great grandmother of Matthew N. Guerra.

Maria was a woman of great faith, attending Mass at St. Anthony religiously and keeping rosary beads by her side. She loved entertaining her family, preparing family meals and keeping Italian tradition at all the holidays. She enjoyed spending time with friends, going out for coffee, lunch and shopping. She spent many years traveling with her family and especially loved her yearly trips to Cancun.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at 9:30 AM in St. Anthony Church, 1413 Mineral Spring Avenue, North Providence. Funeral Mass to follow at 11:00AM. Entombment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Maria’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Hospital at www.stjude.org.
