Markrid Torigiants

Markrid / Marguerite H. Torigiants also known to her family and friends as “Margo” passed away on August 29, 2023. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Araksi (Kalashian) Torigiants and Souren Torigiants.

Margo graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School and eventually went on to work for the Providence Public School Department in various clerical positions until her retirement.

She was a strong and independent person with a generous heart who treasured her family. Margo lived in faith as a proud member of Saints Sahag and Mesrob Armenian Church in Providence. She had vast knowledge of her family tree along with a diverse collection of photos and memorabilia of her family going back generations. She was immensely proud of her Armenian heritage.

Her true happiness was found in her weekly trips to Twin River where she would enjoy spending many hours with her friends and treasure hunting at the local thrift stores. Margo enjoyed her home and neighborhood and was greatly appreciative of the kindness of her neighbors.

Margo was affectionately called “auntie” by many of her closest cousins including Lauren Micciantuono, her husband Jeff, and their children Alexa and Jason, George Malian, his wife Christine, and their sons George J. and Zachary, Michael Malian, Genna Cookson, her husband Michael, and their sons Joshua and Nathaniel. Auntie Margo will be missed by them all.

Margo is predeceased by her beloved sister Sona Torigiants and is survived by many beloved first and second cousins on both sides of her family.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Tuesday September 5, 2023, at 10:00 a.m.at Saints Sahag and Mesrob Armenian Church, 70 Jefferson Street, Providence. Burial to follow in the North Burial Ground, Providence.
