

Martin E. Donnelly Jr., 88, a life-long resident of Apponaug, died peacefully at home on July 23, 2017. Born on Sep 24, 1928 he was the son of the late Martin E. Donnelly, Sr. and Antonia H. (Viens) Donnelly of Apponaug. He is survived by his devoted wife Mary T. (Coughlin) Donnelly, his sister A. Helen Donnelly of Providence, his daughters, Maria A. Donnelly of Warwick, and Michaela R. Donnelly of Boston, MA, and many nieces and nephews. Martin was a graduate of Providence College and RISD. He served as a weather observer in the US Marine Corps from 1951-1959. He was an architect and a past president of the Construction Specification Institute. Martin was an avid sailor on Narragansett Bay. He was a Past Commodore of the Apponaug Harbor Yacht Club, a member of the East Greenwich Yacht Club, and a dedicated supporter of the Providence College Sailing Team, of which he was a co-founder. Martin also enjoyed bowling and golfing. He will be remembered as a loving husband, brother, father, uncle, and a good friend to all who knew him.A wake will be held at the Boyle Funeral Home , 142 Centerville Rd., Warwick on Wednesday from 4 - 8 pm. Funeral Thursday at 8:45 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in Sts. Rose & Clement Church, 111 Long St., Warwick. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery in East Greenwich. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations can be made in Martin's name to the Providence College Sailing Team, St. Rose & Clement Parish, or The Columban Fathers.
