

JohnstonBarry, Mary P., RN, 89, of Old Pocasset Road, and formerly of Pleasant Valley Parkway, Providence, died Wednesday at Briarcliffe Gardens. She was the loving wife of the late Edward F. Barry, Jr. Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Patrick E. and Mary E. (Gannon) O'Brien. Mary graduated from the Rhode Island Hospital School of Nursing in 1949, and was a registered nurse at Women & Infants Hospital in the Special Care Nursery for 38 years before retiring in 1987. She was a member of the Rhode Island Hospital Nurses Alumni Association and a loyal communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church. She leaves two sons, Edward P. Barry and Paul F. Barry, a daughter, Christine Saccoccio, five grandchildren, Joseph D., and Edward A. Saccoccio, Patrick S. (Saccoccio) Babineau and Edward G. and Katie E. Barry, and four great grandchildren, Haley, Ricky, Steven, and Benjamin. She is predeceased by her son, Kevin V. Barry, and three brothers, Joseph, Robert and John O'Brien.Her funeral with visitation will be held on Monday, January 29, 2018 at 8:00 am from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in the Church of the Blessed Sacrament, 179 Academy Avenue, Providence.
