

Mary C. Fox, 92, of Gorton Street, died Friday, July 25, 2014, at the Steere House Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of the late Richard M. Fox. Born in West Wareham, Massachusetts, she was a daughter of the late Antonio and Fulgencia (DosReis) Baptiste.
Mary worked in the housekeeping department of the Jewish Home for the Aged for many years before retiring, and had previously worked as a winder at the U.S. Rubber/ Uniroyal Plant for several years. Mrs. Fox was a faithful communicant of Holy Name Parish, a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus, Fatima Council, and the Daughters of Isabella.
She leaves two daughters, Beverly Fox Bates and Maureen L. Fox Bento, and her husband, Steven Bento; three sons, Robert E. Fox and his companion, Mildred Woods, Zachary A. Fox, and his wife, Jennie E. Fox, and former Speaker of the House of Representatives Gordon D. Fox, and his husband, Marcus LaFond; two sisters, Alice Cheney and Dorothy Matos; nineteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son, Richard M. Fox, Jr. and two brothers, August Baptiste and Theodore Baptiste.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, at 10:00 am, in the Lady Chapel of the Holy Name Church, 99 Camp Street, Providence, to which relatives and friends are invited. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday, 4-8 pm, in the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence.
