

ProvidenceMary E. McDonnell, 92, of Providence, died Sunday, June 24, 2012, at Roger Williams Medical Center, Providence. She was the beloved wife of the late Martin J. " Marty " McDonnell. Born in Providence, a daughter of the late James J. and Mary (White) Corrigan, she was a lifelong city resident. She leaves a daughter, Jean M. McDonnell; three grandsons, Carl, Paul and Ted Goodrich; and several great-grandchildren. She was also pre-deceased by her children, Edward J. McDonnell and Paula E. Goodrich; her brothers, Walter Corrigan, James Corrigan and Francis Corrigan; and sisters, Helen Campbell and Catherine Cronin. Mary was a civilian employee at the Quonset Point Naval Air Station many years ago, and then worked as a saleslady at the former Shepard's Department Store in Downtown Providence for ten years before its closing.She was a selfless woman of deep faith and quiet strength who was a communicant of Saint Patrick Church and a former member of the parish choir. The funeral will be held Friday, at 8:45 am, from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Saint Patrick Church, 244 Smith Street, Providence. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence. Visiting hours, Thursday, 5 - 8 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to Saint Patrick Church, 244 Smith Street, Providence, RI 02908 in her memory will be appreciated.
