

ProvidenceMary Theresa (Murphy) Murphy, 75, of Delmar Avenue, died Thursday at Rhode Island Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Major Jeremiah P. Murphy, Providence Police Department and Rhode Island State Representative, Providence District 17. Born in Boston, Massachusetts, a daughter of the late James L. and Helen L. (Connelly) Murphy, she lived in the Reservoir Triangle neighborhood of Providence for many years and Charlestown, RI. She leaves a son, Dennis M. Murphy, of Providence; three daughters, Maureen L. Hebert, RN and her husband Michael, of South Kingstown, Kathleen T. Kelly and her husband Daniel, of Coventry, Ann-Elizabeth Brown and her husband Robert, of Warwick; a sister, Helen L. Grennan, of North Kingstown and a special niece, Patricia L. McGrath of Boston, Ma; eleven grandchildren, Michael, Jerrod, Laura, Meghan, Kathleen, Erin, Bobby, Danny, Michael, Patrick and James; and two great-grandchildren, Emily and Michael. She was a sister of the late James, Thomas, Raymond and John Murphy, Esther McGrath, Irene Byer, Ann Murphy, and Eleanor Roach. Theresa was devoted to her family, and especially enjoyed spending time with them, and cooking for them. Mrs. Murphy was a communicant of Saint Matthew Church, Cranston, and a member of the Rhode Island Irish Ceilidhe Club.**The funeral will be held Monday, at 8:30 am from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Road, (Rt. 117) Warwick. Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Saint Matthew Church, Elmwood Avenue, Cranston. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence. Visiting hours Sunday, 3 - 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to Home & Hospice Care of RI, 169 George Street, Pawtucket, RI 02860 in her memory will be appreciated. **The Funeral Mass has been rescheduled for Tuesday morning, March 3rd, at 10:00 am, in Saint Matthew Church, due to the snow storm in Rhode Island.
