Matthew J. Mat Chase

Providence Matthew James Mat Chase, 22, passed away unexpectedly August 2, 2010, in Royersford, Pennsylvania surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved son of Robert J. and Mary Ann Greer Chase. Mat was a 2002 graduate of Saint Augustine School, a 2006 graduate of La Salle Academy, and a member of the Class of 2010 at Providence College. A social work major, Mat was passionate about social justice issues, the Boston Red Sox, and BMWs. He was a respected employee of the John E. Fogarty Center. Beside his parents, Mat leaves his devoted grandfather, Edward D. Greer, as well as his extended loving family, treasured friends and co-workers who will all miss him dearly, as will his dog, Sage. The funeral will be held Monday, at 8:45 am, from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Saint Augustine Church, 639 Mount Pleasant Avenue, Providence. Burial will be private. Visiting hours Sunday, 4 - 7 pm. Mat would have wanted his family and friends to honor his wishes by wearing casual attire. In lieu of flowers, donations to the John E. Fogarty Center, Family Advocacy Program, 220 Woonasquatucket Avenue, North Providence, RI 02911 in his memory will be appreciated by his family and the consumers he so deeply cared about.
