Melissa A. Jacobellis, passed away unexpectedly at her home November 26, 2021. She was a beloved daughter of Delores “Del” (DiSalvo) Jacobellis and the late Nicholas Jacobellis, Jr.; loving sister of Rebecca A. Jacobellis-Hillier and her husband Michael and Thomas N. Jacobellis and his wife Stacey; and aunt of Thomas, Michael, and John Jacobellis and Reese and Laci Hillier. She also leaves several aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.
She attended St. Mary’s Visitation until it closed in 1984. She graduated from LaSalle with the 1st class of females. She earned an Associate’s Degree in Science Healthcare Admin and Business from NE Tech and received her Registered Nursing Degree from CCRI in Lincoln.
Melissa worked for Dr. Leconte & Bonner for 13 years. She worked at Horizon Bay from 2009-2019. She also worked at Cherry Hill Nursing Home and briefly at CraMar in Cranston until her unexpected passing.
Melissa (Missy) was a diva. She loved her clothes, pocketbooks, shoes, and jewelry. She loved being stylish and going out with friends. Melissa was the life of the party. She was well known for her great sense of humor and would always bless those around her with laughter. When she loved-she loved wholeheartedly! But, Melissa didn’t brag about herself, she was very humble and had many other special qualities. She was a caretaker. She rooted for the underdog. She was always a loving support system for anyone in need. She loved her elderly patients with passion and treated them with care. She loved animals, especially her cat Tiger that was with her for 17 years.
Melissa had a deep love of everything derived from her Italian culture/roots. She loved everything Italian; food, clothes, travel, and even her men …lol. She spent many of her birthdays celebrating on Federal Hill at the Italian Festival with her family and friends. She is probably sitting with our dad right now drinking a glass of red wine looking down smiling upon us! Salute!
Melissa was taken from us way too soon and our hearts will be broken forever. Melissa, your family loved you unconditionally and we know you felt the same! We will miss you forever, until we meet again our beautiful girl!
Visitation will be held Friday 9:00-11:00 a.m. followed by a service at 11:00 a.m. in the Pontarelli-Marino Home, 971 Branch Ave, Providence. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory made be made to the Rhode Island SPCA, www.rispca.com.
