He was the devoted husband of the late Corinne (Caruso) Roy, cherished father of Karen A. Roy and her long-time companion Michael Pollock, and Anne-Marie Roy; and proud grandfather of Allison Krollman and Alyssa Pollock. He was a beloved son of Oliver and Margaret Roy, older brother of Lois Roy and Edward Roy along with his late sister and brother Joan Valois and William Roy, and friend to many.
Known to many as “Bud”, he was born in Providence, Rhode Island, and graduated La Salle Academy in 1953. After graduation, he proudly served as a Marine in the Korean War. Upon his return to the States, Bud studied Business at the University of RI and received his Bachelor of Science degree. In 1960, he married the love of his life, Corinne (Caruso) Roy, and they were married for 59 years until her passing in 2019. He resided in their family home in North Providence for over fifty years. Bud was an attentive grandfather, and took great pride in his granddaughters, always celebrating their academic and professional accomplishments.
Bud had a long and successful career, working for decades as an insurance executive in Boston, and later as a Realtor in Rhode Island. A highlight of his real estate career was his 18-year partnership with his devoted daughter, Karen, whom he adored.
Bud was an avid reader who enjoyed historical novels and espionage fiction. Despite years of insisting he would never take to golf as a hobby, he ended up becoming quite fond of the sport, even participating in weekly golf leagues with family and friends, which served as a constant source of enjoyable frustration.
Bud was a cherished father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend who will be dearly missed by his family and loved ones. He leaves behind a lifetime of treasured memories for those who knew him.
