
WarwickOmer " Pete " Charland, 80, of Warwick, RI, Naples, FL, and Scituate, RI, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2007 at Naples Community Hospital, Florida. He was the husband of the late Clarisse V. (Aubin) Charland, and companion of Erna T. Leahy. Born and raised in Woonsocket, he was a son of the late Peter and Claudia (Guay) Charland. Mr. Charland was the founder of the former North Scituate Pharmacy, which he owned and operated for many years. He was a 1951 graduate of the Rhode Island College School of Pharmacy. He served his country proudly during WW II in the United States Navy. Beside his companion Erna, Pete leaves five sons, Peter J. Charland of Holly Springs, NC, William F. Charland and Dennis J. Charland, both of Scituate, RI, Donald G. Charland of Sneads Ferry, NC, and Thomas A. Charland of Roseville, MN. He also leaves a brother, Norman L. Charland of Pinnacle, North Carolina, 24 grandchildren, and a great-grandson. The funeral will be held Saturday, at 8:45 am, from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Road, (Rt117) Warwick. Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Saint Clement Church, 111 Long Street, Warwick. Burial, with military honors, will be in Smithville Cemetery, Scituate. Visiting hours Friday, 4 - 8 pm.
