

Narragansett Raymond W. Flynn, 70, of Lake Road, Narragansett, and Fort Myers, Florida, died Wednesday morning, February 8, 2012, at the Gulf Coast Medical Center, Fort Myers, Florida. He was the beloved husband of Susan J. (Dalton) Flynn. They were married for forty-four years. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Dr. Joseph C. and Evelyn V. (Lynch) Flynn. Mr. Flynn was a special education teacher for the City of Providence School Department for thirty years, retiring in 1993. During retirement, Ray worked at the Midville Country Club for several years. Active in youth sports in the Warwick area as a coach for many years, Ray was also a board member of the Continental Little League, and also served as a supervisor within the Rhode Island Interscholastic League. He was a 1965 graduate of Providence College.Besides his wife Susan, he leaves two daughters, Kristen J. Flynn, Melissa J. Sommer and her husband John; a son, Raymond W. Flynn, Jr., and his wife Sarah; three brothers, Dr. Joseph C. Flynn, Gary J. Flynn and Christopher J. Flynn; a sister, Maureen Lawson; and seven loving grandchildren, Thomas, Jack and Matthew Sommer, and Paige, Skylar, Colby and Emily Flynn.The funeral will be held Monday, at 8:45 am, from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Road, (Rt117) Warwick. Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Saint Gregory the Great Church, 360 Cowesett Road, Warwick. Burial will be in Saint Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours Sunday, 3 - 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to Rhode Island Special Olympics, 370 George Washington Highway, Smithfield, RI 02917 in his memory will be appreciated.
