

NORTH PROVIDENCE - BAUER, Richard F., 82, formerly of Smithfield Rd., died Thursday at Overlook Nursing Home. He was the former husband of Claire (McCarthy) Bauer. He was born in Attleboro, MA, a son of the late Frederick and Alice (Baker) Bauer. He was raised in Warwick and Providence, and later raised his family in Greenville. A graduate of Bryant College, Mr. Bauer was a salesman for many years in the jewelry and findings industry, a job which took him throughout the world. He later founded his own firm, RFB Sales. He was a decorated WWII Navy veteran, serving in both the Pacific and European Theaters; as well as an all-round sports enthusiast and an avid NY Yankees fan. He leaves his children and their spouses; Jeffrey A. and Melissa A. Bauer of North Scituate, Richard B. and Debra A. Bauer of Chepachet and Andrea L. and Rod F. Carey of Greenville; his sister, Dorothy Manchester of Johnston and three granddaughters: Erin, Nichole and Arianna Bauer, and his beloved "second family" at Overlook Nursing Home. He was the father of the late Ronald F. Bauer and brother of the late Edward Bauer. Calling hours are respectfully omitted, and the funeral and burial will be private.
