

Richard M. "Dick" Daley died August 18, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Anne M. (O'Malley) Daley for almost 53 years.Richard was born in Providence, son of the late John F. and Mary H. (Cronin) Daley. Besides his wife, he is survived by two children, Kathleen M. Beam and her husband Kevin of Westwood, MA and Kevin M. Daley and his wife Susan M. (Candelmo) Daley of East Greenwich RI; seven grandchildren Katherine, Daniel, and John Beam; and Kevin, Brendan, Patrick, and Mia Daley. He also leaves four siblings, Doris Allin, Thomas Daley, John Daley, and Maureen McGovern and many sisters and brothers in-law, nieces, and nephews, all of which he loved dearly.Richard attended St. Michael's School graduating, in 1955 and LaSalle Academy, class of 1958. He went on to attend Bryant University and received at Bachelor of Science in Business Management.Richard had a 40 year career in the Transportation industry, most of which was spent as Managing Director of Jewelers Shipping Association and co-owner of JSA Services and JSA Terminals. During the span of his career, he served many roles in various organizations associated with the Transportation and Jewelry industries, including serving as President of American Institute of Shipping Associations, President of Providence Transportation Club and a long time board member of the Rhode Island Trucking Association and Providence Jewelers Club.He was also involved in many other civic and religious organizations throughout his adult life including a hockey coach for CLCF, volunteer and benefactor to the LaSalle Academy Alumni Association and the St. Michaels Church Social Ministry, a member (and past president) of the Galilee Beach Club, a member of the Squantum Association and a member of The Sons of the Irish Kings, to name a few. But perhaps his greatest joy came from volunteering (and taking on a leadership position) at The Assumption Parish Food Pantry, a role that he immersed himself in following his retirement in 2005 and which he continued right up until the time that his illness prevented him from doing so any longer.Richard lived an ordinary life in the most extraordinary way. His kindness and generosity knew no bounds and he found an admirable trait in everyone he met. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.Richard's family would like to express their gratitude and thanks to all of the staff members of the Hallworth House who cared for him during the last year of his life with such love and affection.His funeral will be held on Monday, August 22, 2016 at 8:30 am from the Russell J. Boyle and Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Road (Route 117), Warwick, RI 02886 and a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am, in The Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 791 Potters Avenue, Providence, Rhode Island, 02907. Burial will be in Saint Ann's Cemetery, Cranston, Rhode Island. Visiting Hours will be held on Sunday, August 21, 2016 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
