Robert Ortega Jacquez

Providence Robert (Bob) Ortega Jacquez, of Smith Street, Providence, age 67, born in Silver City, New Mexico to Santiago Duarte Jacquez and Maria Ortega Jacquez, died February 7, 2013, after three years bravely battling cancer. Bob is survived by his wife, Ann Jacquez, sons Joseph Jacquez, Robert Jacquez and wife Susan Jacquez, daughter, Alice Jacquez-Adams and husband Robert Adams, stepdaughter Frances Terry, stepson, Ronald Madride, grandchildren Sharissa Jacquez, Marissa Jacquez and Igby Adams, and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by brothers, Tony Sr. and Jimmy Jacquez, and sisters Rachel Montez, Rita Provencio, Molly Altamirrano. Bob leaves brothers Fidel, Roland, Rudy, and Armando Jacquez, and sisters, Priscilla Gomez, Guadelupe Barragan, Alicia Carrasco, Dahlia Garcia, Maryann Ortiz and husband Pedro.Bob served his country in the US Army, stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War era. He loved horseracing, having owned and raced several winners (Major Keegan, Olie Day) in New Mexico, and shared an interest in game hunting with his family, from his brothers and sons, to his granddaughters. But first and foremost Bob was known as a power plant man. His reputation as a first class operator spans the country and abroad. He worked at San Juan Generating Station in New Mexico, the Arizona Public Service Company, and locally at Pawtucket Power and Manchester Street Station, where he was part of the repowering team in the late 90's, and where he met his wife, Ann. Bob brought many years of friendship, love and laughter to New Mexico and Rhode Island, and will be missed. The funeral will be held Thursday, at 8:45 am, from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Saint Pius V Church, Eaton Street, Providence. Burial will be in Saint Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours Wednesday, 4:00 - 8:00 pm.
