Sadie Brady

Sadie was the beloved mother of Harvey Brooks, Larry Brooks, Linda Brooks, Marshall Brooks, Christine Brooks, Margrita Brady, Janice Brady, Harold Brady, Elouise Brady and the late Carolyn Brooks, Barbara Jean Brooks and Jacqueline Brady. She was the loving grandmother of 28 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren including her namesake, 7 week old Gabriella Sadie who she was extremely excited about.

She was the sister of Mary Zachary, Helen Baldwin, Ruth Banks, David Banks, Louise (Fannie) Linley, Nina Martin, Howard Banks, and the late Richard Banks and Brenda Banks-Venning.

Sadie had worked at the Providence Marriott for 20 years before retiring in 2001. It was there that she met her best friend, Ramona “Mona” Webster. After retiring, Sadie enjoyed watching her stories (Days of our lives and As the world turns) and baking desserts. She also enjoyed eating snacks, her favorite being devil dogs. She was known in the community as “Nana Sadie” and the community loved her for her wittiness. In her last years, Sadie transitioned back home to Georgia for short period of time where she lived with her daughter Margrita. She also spent much time helping family and caring for her great grandchildren. She particularly bonded with her 5 year old great grandson Kyrie, whom she mentioned in every conversation. He referred to her as his “best friend”. She will be loved and missed by many.

Her visitation will be held Tuesday, October 24th from 9:00-11:00 a.m. with her funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. in the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence.
