She was married to the late Alfred Lanni for 60 years. Daughter of the late Arthur and Alma (Esposito) Christopher. Shirley is survived by her loving daughters, Gail Lombardi and her husband Nick, and Lynn Torngren and her husband Brett all of North Providence. Beloved Nana to Nicole Silva and her husband Bryan, and Stefanie Muncey and her husband Daniel. Great grandmother to Bryan, Cole, Dean Silva and Camden Muncey. Sister of the late Janice Ruggiero.
After early retirement from the Providence Journal in 1995, Shirley worked at the Dining Hall at Providence College serving many seasons of PC Friar Basketball teams until retiring at the age of 75.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM on Thursday, October 31, in St. Augustine Church, 20 Old Road, Providence.
Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence. Visitation will be private.
