

Pawtucket Sister Mary Ann Follmar, 79, of Pawtucket, passed away on Sunday, October 18, 2015, at Miriam Hospital, Providence.Born in Long Island, NY, she was a daughter of the late Ambrose and Dorothy (Heinrichs) Follmar.She was educated in La Crosse, WI; she was the first women to receive her doctorate in Theology from the Gregorian University in Rome.Sr. Mary Ann received the Consecration of a Virgin in Vatican City in 1975.Sister taught theology at Providence College for 35 years before retiring.Sister volunteered at Roger Williams Hospital visiting the sick and dying. She loved teaching and touched many lives though many years of teaching.She authored many books including The Marian Spirit in the Church and the Steps of Love in the Dialogue of St. Catherine of Siena.Sister Mary Ann is survived by a brother, Rev. Joseph Follmar of Manhattan, IL, a sister Rose Jurgens of New Lenox, IL, nephew Kurt Jurgens and his wife Laura, and their children Moriah, Kiah, Nadia, Olivia, Aiden and Luci, nephew Erik Jurgens and his wife Amy and their children, Alexandra, Molly, Theodore and Elizabeth, niece Kari Ropers and her husband Mike.The funeral will be held Thursday at 9:00 a.m. from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home 331 Smith Street, Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. St. Pius Church Eaton Street, ProvidenceBurial will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket.Visiting hours will be on Wednesday 4:00-7:00 p.m.Please omit flowers; donations in her memory may be made for the spread of the faith to the Sacred Congregation of the Faith in Vatican City c/o Fr.
