Sylvia Fuchs Jones

JONES, SYLVIA, 94, passed away February 4, 2013 at Greenville Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation where she had resided for two and a half years. She had also lived with her daughter Susan after residing in Warwick with her husband for 47 years. She was the wife of the late Ernest L. Jones to whom she was married for 60 years. Sylvia was the daughter of the late Solomon and Clara (Sharpia) Fuchs of Romania. Sylvia would have celebrated her 94th birthday on February 17th.   Sylvia met her husband during WWII and became a war bride. She came to this country in 1946, becoming a citizen in 1948.  .Sylvia was in retail for many years working in such stores as Gladings, Sheppard’s and Cherry & Webb.  She worked at Levition Mfg. for 15 years and at P&B Mfg. for 15 years until retiring in 1989. She liked cooking, knitting, crocheting, music, traveling and movies. Sylvia enjoyed her membership to Cornerstone Adult daycare services for 3 years.   Besides her daughter Susan, she leaves a son, Stephen Jones of Friendswood, TX, a daughter, Elizabeth Burns of Cranston; grandchildren, Cynthia Burrell, Julie Seguin, Christopher A. Jones and Desiree Jones-Catalano; and five great grandchildren.   A graveside service will be held on Friday, February 8, 2013 at 10:00 AM in Highland Memorial Park, 1 Rhode Island Ave, Johnston.  In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in her memory to RI Alzheimer’s Association, 245 Waterman St., suite 306, Providence, RI 02906.
