

William J. G. Lawton Jr., 87 of Scituate, died on April 23, 2015 at Nancy Ann Convalescent Home in Foster. Bill was the son of the late William J.G Lawton Sr. and Ursula F. (Costello) Lawton. Bill was the husband of Audrey A. Lawton for 26 years and previously to the late Lillian J. Klumbis for 32 years. He is survived by his daughters, Joyce B. (Salisbury) Lindsay and her husband Dan, and Lillian Jean Delmonico and her late husband William. Stepfather of Brenda E. Hopkins and Theodore H. Hopkins, III. Bill was predeceased by his daughter Kathleen A. (Niggl) Hanks and son Michael S. Lawton. Bill was the proud grandfather of 13 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Bill was the brother of Theresa Dwyer, Ursula "Bobbie" Smith, James L. Lawton, and the late Eileen L. Coulombe. Bill was a World War II veteran of the United States Navy, USS Murphy DD603, Lieutenant Detective for the Providence Police Department 1948-1968 and the Chief of the Scituate Police Department 1970-1990. Bill was also employed by BankAmericard starting the security division. Bill was known for his sense of humor which brought a smile to many. Grampa Bull's stories and songs kept the grandchildren amused for hours. Bill's funeral will be held Wednesday, April 29, at 8:15 am from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Road, Warwick. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am in St. Joseph Church, 144 Danielson Pike, North Scituate, RI. Burial with military honors will be in the Greenwood Cemetery, Coventry. Visiting hours, Tuesday 4-7 pm.
