William Thomas McElroy

William T. McElroy, age 91, of Narragansett RI, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2018. Bill was born in Providence, RI, a son of the late William A. McElroy and Mary C. (McGloin) McElroy. Bill was also predeceased by his wife Shirley (Tracy) McElroy, and his children Betty Ann McElroy and William T. McElroy, Jr., and sisters Mary A. Skoog and Veronica L. Dorsey. He is survived by his nieces and nephews, Mary Dowling, Donna Dorsey Fox, Martha Skoog, Michael Dorsey, Maureen Gallagher and Jonathan Dorsey. Bill was a graduate of LaSalle Academy, and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked for over 40 years as a truck driver and was a member of the Teamsters union. Second only to the love he had for his family, was his love for his canine friends. He always had a ready supply of dog biscuits in his pocket for his furry friends. Bill was a true gentleman and he will be greatly missed by his family and his many friends. In accordance with Bill’s wishes, there are no services and burial will be private. The family will plan a memorial Mass at a later date.
