

Providence Mulvey, William P., "Bill" 83, of North Fort Myers Florida, and formerly of the Smith Hill section of Providence, died Tuesday at Kindred Hospital in Florida, surrounded by his loving wife and step-son Michael. He was the husband of Mary (Burns) Mulvey. They had been married for 23 years. Born in Providence, a son of the late Thomas J. and Anna L. (Finnegan) Mulvey, he had lived in Smith Hill for most of his life before moving to Florida four years ago. Bill was a sprinkler fitter for the Grinnell Corporation for forty-six years, retiring in 1988. He was an Army Veteran of WWII serving in the European Theater for 19 months, and four campaigns, Italy, France, Germany and Belgium. Mr. Mulvey received a Bronze Star, Silver Star, and the Purple Heart. He was a life member of Roger Williams American Legion Post #35 for the past sixty-two years. Beside his wife, he leaves a step-son, Michael Toumasian, two step- daughters, Rosemarie Stephenson and Carmelita Toumasian, two brothers, Thomas J. Mulvey and Robert F. Mulvey, twelve grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was a brother of the late Rita M. Mulvey. The funeral will be held Tuesday, at 8:45am, from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Patrick Church, 244 Smith Street, Providence. Burial, with military honors, in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours Monday 4 -8 pm.
