

Alice Calderon was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, nurse, and caretaker whose life was firmly rooted in family, service, and strength. Born on December 19, 1952, Alice lived a life defined by compassion, resilience, and dedication to others. She passed away on her birthday, December 19, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love and service that will endure for generations.
Alice pursued her calling in nursing by attending the University of Southern Colorado, where she earned an Associate Degree in Nursing. Her career spanned nearly three decades, marked by excellence, leadership, and selfless care. She served as a critical care nurse at several hospitals across Colorado, including St. Mary Corwin Hospital in Pueblo (1985–1988), St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction (1988–1989), and Longmont United Hospital, where she worked from 1989 until her retirement in 2014 as an ICU Charge Nurse. In recognition of her outstanding dedication and skill, Alice was honored as Nurse of the Year at Longmont United Hospital.
Her commitment to healing extended beyond her workplace. In 2005, Alice volunteered her expertise during Hurricane Katrina, serving at a hospital through FEMA. This was an act that reflected her courage, generosity, and deep sense of duty to humanity.
Despite her demanding profession, Alice’s greatest joy was her family. She loved cooking—especially for her grandchildren. She found happiness in bringing people together around food, laughter, and love. She also cherished traveling the world, embracing new experiences.
Alice will be remembered as strong-willed, generous, and deeply principled. She was a mentor to a new generation of nurses, leading by example and setting a standard of excellence, compassion, and integrity. Her influence reached far beyond hospital walls, touching countless lives through her guidance and care.
She is preceded in death by her father, Wilbur Santistevan; her mother, Alice Santistevan; and her brothers, Will Charles Santistevan and Charles Santistevan, and sister Sharon (Scott) Colby.
Alice is survived by her loving husband, Bob Calderon; her sons, Rob (Samantha) Calderon and Travis (Grace) Calderon; her daughter, Candice (Joaquin) Bowers; her brothers, Michael (Mercy) Santistevan and Leroy Santistevan; her sister, Jerry Santistevan; and her cherished grandchildren: Robby Alfonso (Brie), Bella, Aiden, Isaiah, Aquina Bowers, Joaquin Bowers, and Candi Bowers, who were the pride and joy of her life.
A memorial service will be held on January 2, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Imperial Funeral Home, located at 5450 Highway 78 West, Pueblo, CO 81005, United States.
A reception will be held afterwards from 2:30 pm to 5:00 pm at Imperial Funeral Home.
In honor of Alice’s life and lifelong dedication to care, charitable donations may be made to National Jewish Hospital in Denver, Colorado.
Alice’s life was one of strength, service, and unconditional love. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
