

Alice Muniz, 94, passed away January 7, 2022. She was born to Jose and Josefa Minjarez on August 8, 1927 in Sugar City, Colorado. Alice worked in the sugar factory where she met and later married Eugene Muniz, WWII veteran, who had just been discharged from the Army. Alice was a homemaker and enjoyed playing bingo, going to Cripple Creek, and visiting with friends. She is preceded in death by her daughter Mary Alice Acosta and son Mark Anthony Muniz. She is also preceded in death by her siblings Jessie, Guadalupe, Flora, John, Joe, Geneva, and Lee. She leaves to cherish in her memory: her dedicated and loving husband of 75 years, Eugene; children Eva Muniz-Valdez (John); son, Eugene Muniz Jr. (Pat); six grandchildren Michael Acosta, David Acosta (Heather), Julia Morgan (Will), Kris Valdez (Sarah), Eugene Muniz (Evelyn), Angela Ahlers (Kyle); six great grandchildren Natalia, Kaileia, Ariana, Jamie, Sophia, Eugene Leonardo; siblings Josephine Minjarez, and Tom Minjarez (Marge); son-in-law, John Acosta, numerous nephews, nieces, extended family and friends that have been loving and supportive. The family wishes to thank Dr. Chris Wilson, the Sangre de Cristo Hospice staff, and the caregivers who provided Alice with dedicated, personal in-home care. Private family services will be held.
