Alisa was born November 21, 1970, and raised in Pueblo, CO, graduating with honors from South High School in 1989. She went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology and a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics from the University of Northern Colorado and later earned her Master’s Degree in Linguistically Diverse Education from Adams State College. Becoming a teacher became her passion and Alisa began her long teaching career in 1996. She was a devoted math teacher in multiple states, teaching both in-person and online classrooms long before it was common. Alisa’s greatest joy was being a mom to her three children, making sure that family came first, and taught her kids to do the same. She was a bright light with an infectious laugh, a loyal and wonderful friend to many, making friends and connecting with people wherever she went. She was fierce, strong, faithful and loving in everything she did. In her youth Alisa was very active in sports, especially basketball. Her competitive spirit continued as she loved to watch her kids in all their sports and activities, and watching basketball at all levels. She loved crafting, being outdoors, travelling and was always up for an adventure. Alisa cherished spending time in Creede, CO and Maui, where she found peace and tranquility. Alisa often repeated the quote, ‘you never know how strong you are until being strong is your only choice’ to her kids; all the while she was teaching them this through her own actions every day. Her family finds comfort knowing that she is finally at peace and no longer in pain.
Alisa was preceded in death by her grandparents Mae and Joseph Valenti, Lela Clawson, and her mother in laws Gerri Alfonso and Mary Jo Alfonso.
Alisa is survived by her husband of 27 years, Don; children Ashley, Anthony and Amanda Alfonso; mother Nancy Bonicelli (Harold) and father Lewis Carl Andrew (Laihar); father in law Lawrence Alfonso; sister Gina Standlee; niece Ryiah Standlee and nephew Cross Alfonso; and countless family members and friends.
In lieu of flowers, and if compelled to donate, her family will be donating to charities that were supported by and meaningful to Alisa.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday July 23, 2025, at 10:00am, with Rosary beginning at 9.30am, at St. Joseph Catholic Church 1145 S. Aspen Rd, Pueblo, CO 81006. There will be a gathering for friends and family immediately following the service, with details provided at the service.
