

Anthony “Tony” Forner, 99, was born in Berwind, CO, a small coal mining town near Trinidad. He was the oldest of two children. Tony quit school in the 9th grade to take his first job at the funeral home in Trinidad. He later joined the Navy, was stationed in Alaska, and served during World War II.
Tony married Rose Jubic in February of 1947. The couple moved to Pueblo in 1950 and had two children. Tony began work at CF&I steel mill and Rose found work at Woolworth’s. He worked in the wire mill most of his career until he retired at age 62.
In his younger years, Tony enjoyed fishing, washing his cars, and playing cribbage at the Cozy Corner. He also enjoyed traveling and gambling with Rose and close friends Gene and Carole Dremel.
Tony was preceded in death by his parents, Domenic Forner and Lily (Tamburelli) Forner; sister, Josephine Slavek; and wife Rose (Jubic) Forner.
Tony is survived by daughter, Janice (Jerry) Thomas; son, Domenic (Tori) Forner; grandchildren, Michael Thomas, Michelle (Michael) Blackford, and Paige Forner; great-grandchildren, Morgan (Bryan) Miller, and Brodie Blackford.
