We are sad to announce the passing of Arthur James Butler on July 14, 2022, peacefully in his home at the age of 89. He was born in Pueblo, Colorado, on July 15, 1932, to Robert Earl and Anna May Butler. He graduated from Central High School, where he participated in many sports. After graduation, he served four years in the United States Navy. He always said, “ He enjoyed the Navy because he was able to travel all over the world.” While in the Navy, he was trained as a barber, and after he fulfilled his service time, he opened his barber shop on Broadway Ave here in Pueblo, “Jim’s Barber Shop.” He ran his barber shop until the 1970’s when he decided that he wanted a career change. He became a brakeman for the Union Pacific Railroad which ran from Pueblo, Colorado to Horace, Kansas until his retirement. He then began working with his son installing Heating and Air-Conditioning systems and became a licensed journeyman. He retired from the sheet metal business, and he built his dream cabin in Cripple Creek. He spent many wonderful days with his wife up at his cabin, along with traveling around the world to many fascinating destinations.
Jim met the love of his life; Madeline Pollock and they were married for 61 wonderful years. They had two children Anna Marie Butler Shumac (Tim) and James J. Butler (Brenda), and two grandchildren Alaura Butler Hobbs (Travis), and Christina Butler. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and by his three older brothers, Jack, Bob, and Leonard Butler. Everyone that knew him remembers his great sense of humor.
