

Bernadette Ybarra, 71, of Pueblo, Colorado, passed away peacefully at her home after a lengthy illness, surrounded by her loving family. She was preceded in death by her father, Bernard Cruz; sister, Geraldine Gomez; and brother, Patrick Cruz. Bernadette is survived by her devoted husband, Daniel Ybarra; her children, Jeff Ybarra and Nicolette Smith (Gary); and her stepchildren, Johnny Ybarra and Emilia Munsterman. She was a cherished grandmother to Jeffrey Ruehle, Zachary Ruehle, and Phoenix Sage. She is also survived by her mother, Edna Cruz; sister, Cecilia (CC) Wood (Daryl); brothers, Dale Cruz (Karen), Dennis Cruz, and Rudy Cruz (Cathy); her nieces and nephews, including Heather Wood; and her former son-in-law, Steven Ruehle.
Bernadette earned a Master’s degree in Counseling and Psychology and was a Licensed Professional Counselor. She dedicated many years to her private practice, offering compassionate and thoughtful care to her clients before retiring. She enjoyed reading, loved cooking, and looked forward to her twice-yearly trips to Washington State to spend time with her grandchildren—moments she treasured deeply.
A funeral service will be held on November 24th at 11:00 a.m. at Imperial Chapel, 5450 W State Highway 78, Pueblo, CO, and will be officiated by Cortnie Fitzsimmons.
