In honor the life of a truly remarkable woman, Burgundi. Born on September 9, 1992, in Colorado Springs, CO, she moved to Pueblo West, CO in 2002. While she started high school at Pueblo West High School, she completed her education as an online homeschool student, a testament to her adaptability and determination.
Throughout her professional journey, Burgundi touched many lives. She worked at the YMCA snack bar, Express Scripts, and Ent Federal Credit Union, before pursuing her true passion as a Realtor. Along the way, she built lasting friendships with many people, some of whom are here today. She treasured these friendships, and I know she would want each of you to know how much you meant to her. You were her support system, her chosen family, and she loved you all deeply.
Even through the toughest of times, Burgundi never stopped striving for success. During the pandemic, she completed her Associate’s degree – a significant accomplishment, though one she never got the chance to experience in the traditional way. She was unable to walk across the stage in front of her family and friends, but we all know how much that achievement meant to her.
Burgundi had so many qualities that made her one of a kind. Among them, her love for animals was undeniable. She adored babies of all kinds—whether human, puppy, chick, goat, or pig. She was the kind of person who, despite battling cancer, found time to raise Odin, a puppy who grew up under her care, until he was old enough to stay home on his own. She poured love and care into each and every one of them.
But there was one thing that stood above all others for Burgundi —her love for her daughter, Izzy. Izzy was her everything. The bond they shared was deep, and she loved being a mother more than anything. Izzy, you were her joy, her purpose, and she carried you in her heart every single day.
As we remember Burgundi today, we do so with gratitude for the time we had with her. Her spirit, her kindness, her love for life and all its creatures—these are the things we will hold onto forever. And though we are heartbroken that she is no longer with us, we take comfort in knowing that her memory will continue to live on in all of us, especially in Izzy, and in the many friends whose lives she touched.
May we carry forward the love, strength, and compassion that Burgundi freely gave to the world. Rest in peace, Burgundi. You will always be loved, and you will never be forgotten.
