

Daryl Wayne Swartz, 78 of Pueblo, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2025, after a long battle with cancer. Daryl was born on October 18, 1946, in Pueblo, Colorado, graduated from East High School in 1964 and was a life-time Pueblo resident. Daryl served in the United States Army and served multiple tours in Viet Nam.
Daryl is survived by two sons, Randal (Paige) Swartz and Curtis Swartz; sister Susan Mace; brother Jeff (Susan) Swartz; grandchildren: Briana, Shelby, Sophia, Jordyn, Brian N.K. (Swartz); Kaityn Babnik, Kaidyn Sloan, and Bentlee Vigil; great granddaughter Kaleia; nieces Christy Caulkins, Denise (Randy) Boyette, Melissa (Collie) Eckles and nephew Jeff (Sara) Swartz as well as numerous family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by son Brian Jay Swartz; parents John and Eileen Swartz; brothers John Jr. and Carl (Swartz); brother-in-law Daniel Mace; and niece Mandy Zulkoski.
Daryl was a well-known auto mechanic in the local automotive world. He had a deep passion for restoring cars, hot rods, and trucks, proudly showcasing them at various car shows and events. He found great joy in passing down his mechanical knowledge to his sons and grandchildren. Beyond his love for vehicles, Daryl also cherished the outdoors—camping and fishing were among his favorite pastimes. He had a curious mind and enjoyed gaming and rebuilding computers.
His true calling came when he became a grandfather and later a great grandfather and he was affectionately known to his grandchildren and often others, as ‘Papa.’ His grandchildren brought light, laughter and happiness into his life. He spent the last 22 years of his life totally committed to helping and taking care of and loving his grandchildren. They were his world!
A graveside service will be held on June 28, 2025, at 11 AM at Imperial Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Pueblo, CO 81005.
