

David K. Ashley, 85, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2025 at his home in Pueblo, CO. He was born on March 4, 1940 in Ord, Nebraska to Karl and Irene (Daily) Ashley. He grew up in Scotia, Nebraska. After graduating from high school there, he moved to Colorado to continue his education at Denver University & Colorado State University.
In 1963 he married his high school sweetheart Ruby Clement. They had two sons and one daughter.
In 1974 he opened his own construction company in Fort Morgan, Colorado.
At the age of 48 he went to mortuary school in Dallas and received his license as a Funeral Director. In 1991 he moved to Pueblo, Colorado to manage TG McCarthy Funeral Home on Goodnight Avenue.
In 1998 he purchased what is now Ashley True Value Hardware and worked there until his retirement.
David was an outdoors enthusiast. He loved the motorcycle trips he took with Ruby and friends. He enjoyed sports, hunting, ATVs and camping. He especially enjoyed silhouette shooting competitions where he met many awesome and lasting friends. He was also a valued member of Pueblo Lodge #17 and active in Al Kaly Shrine.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Karl and Irene Ashley, a son H.D. Ashley, and brother Emory Neil.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ruby, and children; Travis of Pueblo, CO and Kimberly of McKinney, TX, granddaughter Olivia of McKinney, TX, sister Barbara Schoemaker of Ft. Morgan, CO, and several in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Per his request no services (cremation has taken place).
He was greatly loved and will be missed.
