I just heard of Dave's death, I'm very very sad, I have a lump in my throat that will not let me speak, I'm so sorry. He was an incredible person that I loved very much. I am very sorry. I wanted to contact Chalotte or Shawn, he always talked about them with love. 
I am from Argentina, I worked with Dave in mining in  2003 and 2002.

I knew David through our school years in Akron, Colorado. We played a trumpet deuet for a music competition in about the 6th grade. He was always a lot of fun.

What can I say about Dave Baker? A great man with a giant heart and a terrific friend, not just to my family, but just about everyone he came in contact with. Fortunately for all of us, Dave travelled the world and trained and developed countless people. He enriched the lives of many but never asked for much of anything for himself. His dream shop was under construction on his ranch the last time I talked to him, and he was very excited to see it completed.
I used to call him Big Dog and it came from a football term about letting the big dogs eat first - the idea being your big and powerful linemen, who set the edge and knock down the opposition should eat first. Dave was truly a Big Dog and he was the key to much success around the world.
My entire family will miss Dave and we want to express our deepest sympathy to Char and her entire family.  God Bless you.

I am very sad that Uncle Dave is no longer with us.  He was always a joy to be around at the family gathering and I regret that we were not able to see each other more often.  My heart goes out to my entire family in this sad time.  I love you all.

Condolences to Char and Family, a great man lost. He has left his mark on this world with his great attitude, work ethic and friendship to so many people around the world. Julie and I are proud to call him a friend (and you too Char). The friendship you both showed us in Peoria is remembered fondly. Will always remember the great times together, especially working on solving the issues of the day.

Char and family so sorry to hear about Dave, he called us a couple of months ago and I was so glad to hear from him. We had some really fun times with him. He was one of the best!

Char and family.  We are sorry to hear about your loss.  I knew Dave from working together in Cat's Global Mining.  The last I saw him we were working together, not at Cat but cleaning up the remains from the tornado that destroyed the home of Deborah and Phil Hansen. Dave brought his trailer and truck and his son and they both worked tirelessly.  He was always there to help.  Great guy and will be missed by all who knew him.

I remember that Dave sat close by and was so helpful when I joined Cat.  Always a great guy to be around....so experienced and knowledgeable.  You have my sympathies.

Thinking of you at this difficult time.  We had so many good times with you and Dave on the Illinois River, going across Lake Michigan, and in the Ozarks. Char, so sorry to hear about Dave.  He was a great guy and a good mentor.  I enjoyed our time in Florida and on the boat on the Illinois River.

So sorry to hear the news of Daves passing. Our family has such fond memories of him. He really made the effort to make sure our family was settled and happy when we were transferred out west. I remember a funny evening with Dave. He asked me to accompany him to dinner with few fellows from the CAT dealer in Argentina. Now the Argentines are rightfully proud of their wines, and Dave didn't want to disappoint them at dinner. We ate in a small Italian restaurant where the owner and chef always treated CAT groups with personal attention. Dave asked the chef to bring us two bottles of his best red wine. As our guests feigned nonchalance regarding the wine, Dave asked for two bottles of the second best wine in the house. As we finished dinner, the chef brought the check. From the look on Dave's face I though I might have to administer CPR. It seems our wine bill was over $1000. I told Dave not to worry. I could provide with a dozen Hispanic "ghost guest" names to add to his expense book. I doubt Dave ever made that mistake again. Dave Baker, a great guy, and a great friend.
