

Mrs. Edwards was born in Pueblo, Colorado on November 18, 1919 to Vern and Nellie
Griffith. She was the 2nd oldest of 6 children. Irene is preceded in death by her
husband, Jay Edwards, daughter Jayrene Barker, and great-granddaughter Natalie
Bible. She is survived by her two grandsons, Scott Bible and Darrin (Pearl) Bible, greatgrandchildren
Christina, David, Rachel, Jackson and Kaleb Bible, as well as numerous
nephews and nieces.
Irene graduated from Pueblo Centennial High School in 1937 and later that same
year married the love of her life, Jay Edwards. Jay and Irene were married for 51 years
when Jay passed away in 1988. The couple had one daughter and she was given a
very unique name, a combination of Jay + Irene = Jayrene. For more than 40 years,
Irene helped run the family business, Pueblo Radio and TV Supply Company, that she
and her husband owned and operated. Throughout her life, Irene loved to travel, she
visited numerous places all over the world with her husband and friends. Irene loved
her family and enjoyed having large gatherings both at her home and her cabin in
Beulah. After her retirement, Irene delivered Meals on Wheels for over a decade, she
was always looking out for the well-being of others. Irene was a long-time member of
the Southwest church of Christ and will be remembered for her selfless spirit of serving
and her godly life.
There will be a graveside service on Friday, December 31st at 3:00pm @ Mountain View Cemetery.
