Eva was born to Rocco DeVincentis and Concetta (De Julio) DeVincentis in the beautiful mountainous community of Ridgway, Ouray County, Colorado, a city that Eva loved and held memories of the Dallas Divide in her heart and mind. She was the 8th born of 8 children.
She was married to John Taravella on June 3, 1950 for 67 years before he preceded her in death in 2017. She is survived by daughter Patricia Bekeza, sons Russell Taravella (Robin Engram), Paul Taravella (Elaine) and Rocky Taravella plus numerous grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She will be remembered for her outstanding talent in the kitchen. She was an awesome cook and could make the simplest of dishes taste extra ordinary. She had an artistic hand that created beautiful oil paintings. She sewed many one of a kind outfits for her children including Patti’s wedding dress and Russ’s first sports coat. She and John raised an amazing garden every year and she spent many an hour in the kitchen canning the gifts of their harvest. Traveling and taking care of her grandchildren and great grandchildren brought her great joy.
She was a devout Catholic and gave many hours in service to her church family at The Shrine of St Therese. She loved being a part of the St Joseph table banquet each year. She worked at all the spaghetti dinners that helped raise money for the school. She sang in the choir and was on the cleaning team that kept the Shrine looking pristine. She was the President of the Alter & Rosary Society.
Outside of her church activities, she worked as a taste sampler in many of the grocery stores in Pueblo. She served as a volunteer for 14 years at Saint Mary’s Medical Center. She was the Secretary of the Junior Bowling League and was a fine bowler herself. Eva was a member of the Woman’s Auxiliary of the Eagles Aerie #145. Her strong work ethic shown in everything she did.
She lived a full life that was blessed by a loving family and dear friends.
Rest in Peace, Eva, Mom and Grandma.
