Gilbert Jose Gutierrez, 68, departed this life on October 21, 2017, after a very courageous battle with cancer. He was born November 21, 1948. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp, and earned the rank of Sergeant during the Vietnam War. He was very proud when his grandson, Gabriel, whom he raised as a son, chose to follow in his footsteps; and enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp. He is preceded in death by both his parents, one sister and three brothers. He leaves to cherish his memory his former wife and lifelong friend, Josephine Gutierrez; his children, Gilbert Jimenez, Shanda Jimenez and Gabriel Gutierrez; and grandson, Gabriel Gutierrez II; his sister, Lourdes Gutierrez; his stepchildren, Jeri Jimenez, Michele Lopez, James Jimenez, Jr.; and numerous other relatives. The family wishes to thank the doctors and staff at the VA Medical Center in Denver for the excellent care they provided.
