Tomorrow will be one month since I stood beside Boris and watched as he took his last breath before entering into rest, before entering into the Paradise we were taught by Jesus in the Lord's prayer to pray for. I know the angels were beside him with the proof that at 3am I awakened from a fitful sleep in time to let him know we made it to the end together. The picture I posted earlier sleeping shows how peaceful his sleep. When he woke up from that sleep he told me he felt so calm, so safe, so rested. After many years of insomnia, and experiencing that restful sleep, he welcomed the scriptures speaking of death as sleeping. He is safe and will be so excited to be in Paradise for ever with no more pain, no more sickness, no more death. He repented of his sins and felt secure in being rewarded. I feel so lost, so missing him in my life. Thank goodness I have many pictures and many vidoe clips to hang on to while I wait patiently for the new world where we will make even more beautiful memories hiking, riding bikes, traveling, enjoying all kinds of music, dancing, eating different types of food (including our favorite Ben and Jerry's New York Super Fudge Chunk, hopefully)and simply sharing our feelings with each other. He listened to my woes, my fears, and actually listened. A keeper, most men don't really listen. He shared his thoughts, his fears, his feelings.I remember him as kind, loving, teachable and wanting to learn the bible. He loved music and loved to dance. He will be playing music once again and I hope I am there to dance with him. OMG.....I miss him.....

Yesterday I visited the nursing home and Hospice House. The hugs, tears, revisiting the place that had become our home for three and a half months brought emotions from so beautiful to unbearable at times. I don't think the staff or residents will ever forget Ivan Boris Celarc. We talked about his smiling even though war was being waged inside him. We talked about his kind words to everyone he met. The way he had a love of life and enjoyed every moment that wasn't riddled with pain. Everyone said what a great man and they are so glad he came into their lives. The memories shared by Hospice staff at his memorial and beautiful words said, will be cherished forever. As tears flow at the loss of such a wonderful man, I feel I will never be able to heal the open sore death has brought me. But I am so very thankful I was part of his life, sorry it was so brief. I should appreciate the fact that quality was better than quantity. As Boris said constantly...eso es asi...it is what it is....let it be.

Boris, hermano mío! Feliz Navidad en la gloria de Dios! Los ángeles alaban al Señor, junto a tí espiritualmente estamos para alabar a Dios por los siglos de los siglos, Amén. 

Boris, my brother! Merry Christmas in the glory of God! The angels praise the Lord, we are spiritually close to you to praise God for ever and ever, Amen.

Barbarann again:
Hearing about the fun loving Boris stirs emotions, from imagining me with him and enjoying the activities to feeling extremely sad that I had so few fun moments before he became extremely ill. He needed me. I needed him. I had one and a half months being pampered by Boris, and I gave three and a half months pampering him back. My cousin says whatever we give freely and willingly comes back to us ten fold. Mine came back a million fold. The insights Boris gave me on life will last my lifetime. I chose to care for Boris. I am so very thankful I was at a time in my life that I was able to stop and dedicate my life to him. I also believe we were brought together by Divine Intervention. I am so happy he shared so many beautiful memories and happiness with friends and acquaintances. I would prefer to remember the five months with fun, joy, happiness, but that is impossible. We were on a roller coaster ride with the black clouds and lightning threatening to annihilate both of us daily for three and a half months. Do you realize that was one hundred and ten days exactly? Yes, friends visited and sat behind him on the roller coaster briefly, and saw his pain caused by the mental and physical deterioration from cancers. A description of cancer is wild, destructive, insatiable spreading of cells gone savage and lethal. Even though he happily welcomed the visits, their roller coaster ride ended when they left. Barbara Behm and John Harder visited many, many times and brought joys to his ride. Boris and me looked forward to seeing what "goodies" Barbara constantly brought and the good cookies John brought. But when they left they were off the roller coaster. But Boris, he couldn't get off. The only way he could get off was to live each day watching and feeling his whole being slowly slipping away until the disease  finished their destruction. The fact that he couldn't run away kept me by his side when I became overwhelmed by difficulties encountered almost daily. At times I wanted to be a visitor rather than a caretaker. Friends describe him as a man of action, adventurous, doing things his way. I read the song "I did it my way", and he agreed that was his life story. As the savage, lethal cancer advanced, he was unable to do things "his way". He needed a helper, a companion that would be there when he got a whim to do things that the deterioration of his body and mind prevented. Some of his friends believed my presence wasn't necessary but anyone who has experienced a loved one in a nursing home environment can imagine how impossible his journey would have been without a constant companion. When the doctor gave him the news and what he would experience, he looked directly into my eyes and asked, "How can I do this?" The scared little boy inside him showed on his face. I made the commitment to him at that moment to take care of him until the end. As his health deteriorated I would sing the songs, "Lean on me", and "One day at a time" every day. One day, out of the blue, he began to sing, "He ain't heavy, he's my brother". He lightened the load with his smiles, his wit, his all being. I had Tom Munch sing "You are my sunshine" when he played at the nursing home and that became our song. Even when his memory failed him he could remember those verses. 

I became possessed to make sure he was as comfortable as possible and making sure he enjoyed every good moment possible. Some people said I over pampered him. Staff at the nursing home and Hospice worried I would lose my health. I know I could not have done this without God and the Angels help, or without his friend Barbara Behm relieving me several times during the day for some much needed rest or "me time", or without the deep love I feel for Boris. He made me feel so fortunate to have the love from such a wonderful man. He became my everything. It was a pleasure being on that journey because I loved everything about him. I am sure friends and even acquaintances felt the same things from him that I loved. Such as his accent and the way he expressed himself. His facial expressions when he reacted to things. His smile that I call smile out loud. When he smiled his whole face and body portrayed happy. The way he wanted me by his side and missed me when I left the room. The way he acted when I came into his sight. These things are ingrained in my mind and heart and death cannot take them away. He brought so much joy to me and I believe every one he came into contact with. I died a little each day right along with him. But I smile out loud remembering the good things. 
Boris is the bear and I am the duck on the rollercoaster of life.

I met Boris at my friends guillermo where I took salsa lessons..... me and a girlfreind. We use to go to denver, and dance all the time. a group of us. We would have dinner at guillermo and practice dancing and listen to music... he was much fun.

I met Boris through my sister, Linda,who was one of his music partners. He was a very talented musician and made it look so easy with his soulful playing. He enjoyed some Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners at our homes as well as summertime visits to pick herbs,vegetables from the garden  and fresh mint on the banks of my creek. We are happy he was able to move to Beulah before he got sick, and was able to spend time walking, riding his bike around town and enjoying the animals that visited his home, including ratcoons and bears-which he enjoyed sharing the story.
His music and talent will be missed and we thank ALL those who were at his side during his illness-to the end

I met Boris Celarc the day my cousin Barbarann showed up quite unexpectedly at my door, on his arm.  She had told me in phone conversations about an amazing man from Argentina she had met and danced the night away with.  Who could have known at that point how both their lives were about to drastically change?  In the upcoming days and weeks, she would share with me daily the details of the events she and Boris were experiencing both together and apart in facing his failing health.  Their connection was strong from the start, and grew rapidly and intensely as Barbarann committed herself to the task of helping this wonderful man through the final days of his life.  No surprise to me since I've watched her take care of others all my life.  She was there for him every step of the way, spending her days and many nights by his side as he went from Parkview ICU to Pueblo Care and Rehab and finally to Hospice House.  During these weeks turning into months, we spoke daily with her sharing Boris' experience as well has her own so that I could be her emotional support through it all.

I can honestly say that I came to know Boris Celarc under very unusual circumstances, but I did indeed come to know him through the daily conversations with Barbarann.  Although not often, I did visit and could see the love the two of them shared, even in this extremely difficult situation.  Out of the conversations with my cousin, I was inspired by this fairytale-like love story and the words Boris would use to describe to Barbarann how he felt - amazing, fascinating, unbelievable.  I could actually feel the love between them, a love that they had both longed for all their lives.  Consequently, out of the inspiration came a beautiful love song titled, "Fascinating Love", which poured out of me as readily as did the love between Boris and Barbarann.  Before Boris' passing and while he was still somewhat coherent at times, I sang the song for him by speaker phone, with his complete approval.

I did not break bread with Boris Celarc, nor did I get to experience his awesome musical talent (how sad!).  I can say, however, with great sincerity -- what a man!!  He led quite a full and interesting life, overcoming as many of us do great adversity, and was a genuine, caring, talented and even a bit famous man.  He spent the final days of his life wrapped in the love and nurturing of a woman he had searched all his life for, and by Divine Intervention had found when he needed her most.  That's the stuff that dreams are made of!!  Watch for my book!  I can't help but write the story!

My heart and prayers go out to Boris' sisters in Argentina, Andrea and Yolanda, who are now and forever bonded in love with Barbarann.  Through her you are now part of my family, too.  May you feel the comforting peace of the loving Creator.
Rejoice, for your brother suffers no more!

Too, prayers and love for my dear, precious cousin, Barbarann, and the amazing gift she gave willingly to Boris.  For that which we give freely and willingly comes back to us tenfold, maybe even more in some cases.

For Boris Celarc, it was an honor to know you, even if only briefly.  Your story has inspired me for life and renewed my belief in miracles.  Rest peacefully, my friend.

MAESTRO!!!Cuantas veces habrás escuchado esa palabra para iluminar a los que te escuchaban,cuantas veces habrás repetido la partitura de tus mejores temas, cuantas veces ilusionaste y endulsate sus oídos de aquellos que lo necesitaban, cuantas veces te recordaremos de lo feliz que viviste junto a lo que amabas.Yo sin conocerte en profundidad se que eras un buen tipo, sincero y de muchas virtudes.Comparto el dolor de los que estuvieron junto a tu lado y a la distancia y espero que los acordes sigan sonando desde donde te encuentres,con mucho afecto y amor alguien con el que habrias compartido inolvidables momentos...!!!

...existen personas que no se tornan especiales por la manera de ser o de actuar, mas por la profundidad con que tocan nuestros sentimientos...todo el afecto que supo cosechar  son pueba que  Boris fue esa persona especial... brillas en el firmamento, amigo...

Michael and I will truly miss our friend. Michael shared playing music with him when he first came to Pueblo. I myself enjoyed hearing him play his piano. He will always remain close to our heart.

Yes, Boris was an extraordinary entertainer as well as an extraordinary person. Many people enjoyed watching him make magic on his keyboard. His journey changed when the brain cancer made it impossible to perform his magic with that crowd. I believe on his new journey he performed an even greater magic in the lives of so many people. He brought joy and happiness to the residents and staff at the nursing home with his daily "strolling" around the home being a "social butterfly". Especially the female residents. He held hands with everyone he came into contact with and he flashed that gorgeous smile at them, which gave them excitement for the day. He became very close to one resident in particular. Lula. He adored her and the connection they made surpasses, I believe, anything one can imagine. I feel I need to share the joy and admiration of the residents and staff at the home he had in the last days of his life. Boris felt extreme love and knew he was thought of as a hero to some. He left this world brave and believing he is headed to a much better place. What a wonderful man. He left a hole in many hearts and will be remembered by most as a very special human being.

I was taken with his great piano style nearly ten years ago, and became a regular listener.  Then we became friends, usually having lunch together every Friday. The last year was very difficult for him, especially the loss of his home to fire. I will miss my friend, and my sympathy goes out to his sisters in Argentina.

I met Boris July 8 and we became special friends immediately. His smile and his gorgeous eyes "zapped" me. We held hands every moment we were together and we shared our past, our dreams, our love for each other. Death parts, divides; but the wonderful memories will linger forever. He called our love a "fascinating love". It was not a love of feverish passion that could have cooled at some point. It was a love deep in the soul, deep in the heart. He became my everything. My friend, my brother, my love. He knew my moral values and he never disrespected me. He was the most loving, kind, wonderful man I have ever met. Seven magnificent weeks with him carried me through three and a half months fighting the disease and enjoying every single day with him. My cousin wrote a song about us and she entered how I feel. I thank him for this special gift and all that it will be. He made such a major influence in my life that will carry me through the humungous, deep hole in my heart. He's the best thing that ever happened in my life.

I only got to play with Boris a couple times, but it was a treat to hear the depth of his musical experience. He was a genuine man, the likes of which we won't see again.
