He worked as an Iron Worker at CF&I Steel Mill and was a retired cowboy, a profession that reflected his roots, as he farmed during his childhood.
His personal interests were deeply connected to his love for the outdoors and animals. Jim was an avid team roper, a ranch cowboy, and participated in rodeo bareback horse events. He was also a hunter and a 4-H leader of the "Lucky Horseshoe" club. Among his cherished companions were his best horse, "Blackie," and his dog, "Tippy," with whom he enjoyed cow herding.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Alice Culver, two brothers, three sisters, and one granddaughter, Savannah. He is survived by his children, Lenard Culver, Delbert Culver, Penny K. Patti, John Jackson, and Justin Jackson. His legacy continues with his grandchildren, Crystal, Marlene, Travis, Clint, Amie, and Cooper.
In lieu of food and flowers, the family requests that a tree be planted or a donation be made to a favorite charity in Jim's name.
A funeral service will be held at 2:30 PM, Friday, November 21, 2025 at Imperial Funeral Home.
