Janice Elizabeth Weber, 76, of Westcliffe, Colorado, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2026. A woman of profound faith, immense talent, and an even larger heart, Janice spent her life in service to her God, her students, and her beloved family.
Born to Davis and Dorothy Martin, Janice grew up with a passion for learning and creating. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Education from McNeese State University and later obtained her Master’s degree from LSU. For many years, she shared her expertise as a Home Economics teacher, touching the lives of countless students from Beaumont, Texas, to DeQuincy, Louisiana.
While residing in Sulphur, Louisiana, Janice was a pillar of St. Theresa Catholic Church. She lived her faith through action, serving as a Catechism teacher, Mass reader, Eucharistic minister, and a dedicated member of the choir.
Upon moving to Westcliffe, she continued her spirit of volunteerism at the Lighthouse Pregnancy Resource Center. She also found great joy and community among the Olde Schoolhouse Quilters, where she formed deep bonds of friendship, particularly with her dear friends Paulette and Debra.
A gifted seamstress since childhood, Janice’s love was often felt through the things she made. From hand-sewn outfits for four generations of her family to beautifully decorated cakes for weddings and birthdays, her hands were rarely still. Her kitchen was the heart of her home, where she mastered Southern staples. Her family will forever miss the taste of her gumbo, banana pudding, roast rice and gravy, fudge, pralines, and her signature mayhaw jelly.
Janice’s greatest legacy is her expansive family. She is survived by her devoted husband, Irvin Quintin Weber, and her 18 children: Jesse Waite (Alvin, TX), James Waite and wife Pok Hyon (Sulphur, LA), Julie LeDoux and husband Brian (Sulphur, LA), Jennifer Ferrell (Bossier City, LA), Calliope Weber (Irmo, SC), Mary Weber, Kathryn Weber, Michael Weber, Rose Weber, and Daniel "Bubba" Weber (all of Westcliffe, CO), Tracey Hutchins (Richmond, VA), Brandon Weber (Colorado Springs, CO), Russell Weber and wife Monica (Sulphur, LA), Matthew Weber and wife Jennifer (Oberursel, Germany), Joseph Weber (Columbus, OH), Rebekah Morley and husband Matt (Irmo, SC), Karl Weber and wife Adrienne (Cañon City, CO), Benjamin Weber and Sarah Marsiglia and husband Miguel (Salida, CO)
She is also survived by 30 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, her brothers Anthony (Linda) Martin and James Martin, and sisters Loretta Martin and Vanessa Martin.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Stephen Martin; her son, Johnathan Waite; and her grandson, Nathaniel Weber.
