

A Life Well-Lived, Cherished, and Remembered
Phyllis Jeanne Chase was born on March 25, 1938, in Pueblo, Colorado, and passed away peacefully on April 13, 2026, in her beloved hometown. She touched countless lives throughout her 88 years, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and service.
Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents, David and Phyllis Rutherford; her husband, Wayne Chase; daughters Peggy Ann Chase and Rebecca Lynn Bustos; and grandson Michael Wayne Franks. Though she mourned their loss, she remained resilient and poured her heart into her family and community.
She is survived by her daughters Lori Jean Franks, Janie Ann Chase, Amelia Cruz #5 and her sister Debra Rutherford, along with Debra’s husband Larry Earley and daughter Michelle Earley and family. Phyllis’s memory also lives on in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Melissa Ann Franks and her children Dominic, Isabelle, and Arianna; Brandy Lynn Bustos Caldwell and her husband Scott; Christopher Michael Franks, his wife Leslie, and son Emmett; Anthony Aaron Bustos, his wife Jessica, and their children Tyren, Toby, Carter, Caid, and Melodee; Cecily Louise Holstead and her daughter Sophie; Shane Patrick David Hinton; and Jonathan David Bustos. Each was blessed by her kindness, wisdom, and unwavering support.
Jeanne dedicated her life to education, earning her degree from Adams State and serving as a beloved teacher at Pinon Middle School, Vineland Elementary, Beulah Elementary, Rye Elementary Schools, and even teaching with the Department of Defense in the Philippines for three years. Her passion for teaching inspired generations of students, shaping young minds and hearts with compassion and skill.
A proud Catholic, Jeanne was an active member of St. Aloysius Parish in Rye, Colorado. She found joy and fulfillment in her faith, serving her church and community selflessly. Her hobbies included golfing, and she cherished her time as a member of the Sera Club and Ladies Guild, making lifelong friendships and memories.
Phyllis Jeanne Chase will be remembered for her loving spirit, unwavering devotion, and the countless lives she touched. She leaves behind a legacy of grace, kindness, and cherished memories that will forever live in the hearts of all who knew her.
Her family extends special thanks to Joni Fair Hospice in Pueblo, Colorado, whose exceptional and loving care brought comfort to Jeanne and her loved ones during her final days.
A memorial service to celebrate Jeanne’s remarkable life will be held at 11:00 AM on May 9, 2026, St. Aloysius Parish, 8006 CO-165, Rye, CO 81069.
