

Jimmy Pat Martinez, 65, passed away September 28, 2021 in Pueblo, Colorado. He married Patricia M. DeTevis Martinez on September 13, 1980. He was born October 26, 1955 in Ludwigsburg, Germany to Ingeburg C. Martinez and Pat B. Martinez.
Jimmy was listed in “Who’s Who of America High School Students”. He was also an Eagle Scout, which he was extremely proud of.
He earned a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Southern Colorado in 1979.
Jimmy was a veteran of the United States Army. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 506th Infantry, 101st Air Assault Division, in Ft. Campbell, KY. After active duty, Jimmy spent time in the US Army Reserves, leaving the military with the rank of Major.
Jimmy went on to earn a Master’s degree in Procurement and Acquisitions Management at Webster University.
He worked for the Colorado Department of Corrections for 28 years.
Jimmy had absolute devotion and love for his wife Patty. They were best friends from the moment they met and that friendship and love continued to grow. He was the most loving and giving husband anybody could be blessed with. Jimmy was a giver in so many ways, always thinking of his family and friends first. Jimmy loved life. His most favorite thing to do was pack his bag and travel. It did not matter where he and Patty were going, or for how long; he loved traveling. He also loved camping, movies, and spending time with family and close friends.
Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents Ingeburg C. Martinez and Pat B. Martinez; grandmother Emilie Auguste Charlotte Busch; grandfather Edward Ernst Alexander Otto Hans Friedrich; grandfather Pascual B. Martinez Sr; grandmother Cecilia Herrera; and mother and father-in-law Mary T. DeTevis and Tony J. DeTevis.
He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years Patty Martinez; siblings Uta Brooks, Pattie Galarza, Carmen Lusk, and Terry (Suzan) Martinez; brother-in-law Tony (Jenny) DeTevis, sisters-in-law Barbara DeTevis, Connie DeTevis, and Linda DeTevis; nieces and nephews Robert, Tanya, Alexander, Daryl (Ashley), Lisa, TJ, Amber, JR, Steven, Stephanie, Tommy, Marty (Indea), Ray, Vinny, Stacey (Chris) and Brian (Jessica). Stacey and Brian had a very close bond with their Uncle Jim and remained very close to him throughout their entire lives. Jimmy is also survived by numerous great nieces and nephews, whom he loved dearly.
Jimmy will always be remembered as a gently loving, giving man. Those that truly knew him and loved him will always hold that in their hearts.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday October 26 at 9:30am at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Pueblo, Colorado. A Committal Service will be held the same day at 1pm at Pikes Peak National Cemetery in Colorado Springs.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Correctional Peace Officer’s Foundation.
