Joan Joyce Cotton, 76, was born August 19, 1943 in Jackson, Michigan to Ron and Kay Rounsville. She was the younger sister to Karen Allen. In 1961 Joan was born again into Christ at Sturgis Christian Church. Then on September 16, 2019 Joan graduated and met her Lord in Heaven.
It was at Sturgis Christian Church where she met Knute, they were married on December 1, 1963. Together they raised 3 successful taxpayers: Kozy, Eric, and Raymond.
When Joan's children were young, and starting to fight, she found part-time work outside the home. She worked for Pioneer Seed and Corn, waitressed and owned 2 businesses: Beautiful Balloons and housecleaning.
Joan enjoyed sewing, cooking, her dogs, camping, canning, and church activities. Most of all , Joan loved volunteering and helping others. She was a political advocate for TABOR, greeter for care and share, sewed for Fort Garland, started Pueblo Cares sending items to soldiers overseas, was a "Big Sister" for women living with HIV, cooked for multiple fundraisers, assembled Bible Study guides for ARM in Joplin, MO., and countless actions of love to anyone.
Joan always wanted her home to be a place of laughter and enjoyed hosting lunch and dinner parties. When everyone would leave she would talk for hours about the fun they had shared. With this, her door was always open to anyone who needed a home for one night or one year.
She will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and complete honesty. Joan loved and trusted the Lord which is apparent in her everyday actions. She stayed active regardless of recent health concerns, loved the Lord Completely, and lived with Grace. Joan will be greatly missed by anyone who knew her.
Viewing is from 11-3 p.m., Tuesday, September 24, 2019 followed by funeral service at 3:30 p.m., both at T.G. McCarthy Funeral Home.
