

John Elizondo, age 89, went to be with the Lord on Jan. 17, 2018. Born May 17, 1928 in Pueblo, CO, he leaves behind his loving wife of 67 years, Genevieve, his beloved children Judy & Terry Stice, Terry Strachan, Chuck & Irma Elizondo. His grandchildren, Sheila & Tyler Larson, Lisa & Aaron Hilt, Rylan Strachan, Chad, Darien, Charleigh Elizondo, Alex Romero, siblings, Aurora Alvarez, Virginia Sena, Sel (Vivian) Elizondo, Tony (Mary) Elizondo, sister in laws Esther Elizondo, Martha Gonzalez, and a host of nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by infant son, John Thomas Elizondo, parents, Jesus & Roberta Elizondo, brother Memo Elizondo, mother and father in-law Fred & Lula Mehan, sister and brother–in-laws, Hope & Leo Diaz, Josephine & Al Sandoval, Frank Gonzalez, Lou & Felix Chavez, Edna Sanchez, Joe Mehan, Manuel Mehan, as well as numerous relatives. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War from 1950-52, where he earned the Purple Heart. He retired after 40 years from Dana Corp. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, bowling, dancing, family gatherings and taking care of his yard and home. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 145 and a longtime member of Holy Family Catholic Church. John enjoyed a long and full life. His family was his joy and comfort. He was a quiet and generous husband, father and grandfather. He was loved, will be remembered and dearly missed. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 25, 2018, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 2827 Lakeview Ave., Pueblo, CO.
