

John Bede Liptak, 92, passed away May 14, 2013 surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife, Larene; children, John Brian (Connie) of Carol Stream, IL, Gregory Scott (Dianne) of Pueblo, Rebecca Sue (Leonard) Kanonik of Larkspur, CO; granddaughter, Carolina (Ryan) Mahrle of IL; siblings, Edward (Dorthy), David, Stephany (Charles) Campbell and Betty Sprague. He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Anna Liptak and siblings, Steve Liptak, Ann Pavol, Margret Novak and Mary Liptak. He graduated from Central High School in 1938. He attended the local community college specializing in carpentry which was his second love. John served in the US Army (WWII 8/03/42 to 11/03/45). He received Commendation on Performance of Duty for Normandy and European Campaigns, Jubille of Liberty Metal, anniversary of D-Day participants. He reached the rank of Technician Fifth Grade. After the service in 1947 he met his soul mate at a dance at St. Joseph Lodge. They married November 6, 1948 at St. Anthony’s Church and continued to dance their way through 65 years of married blitz. He built one home in Pueblo and then moved to the Mesa where he built his second home. He was a member of St. Joseph Church since 1957 where he actively was involved in building campaigns, school board and Holy Name Society. John was in Grocery Management retiring in 1983. He had green thumb, growing a garden every year. He relished weekend trips to his mountain and enjoyed every occasion to be with his family and friends. He was a kind and gentle man with a unique “special” smile which will be greatly missed. In lieu of food and flowers contributions may be made to Sangre de Cristo Hospice or the St. Joseph’s Building Fund in John’s memory.
