Kisi Franc Thompson, 61, of Pueblo, Colorado, passed away peacefully at home on September 12, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with cancer and MS. She was born on May 23, 1964, in Pueblo, the beloved daughter of Clover Diane Schoener and the late Francis George Stayskal. She graduated from Centennial High School in 1981 and attended Faith Baptist Bible College in Ankeny, Iowa, before later pursuing her training and licensure as a master electrician.
Kisi is survived by her devoted husband, Robert Kent “Shorty” Thompson; her loving children, Rodger Stayskal, Trent (Gianna) Thompson and Tate (Gretta) Thompson; her treasured grandchildren, Bradley and Shane Stayskal, Sloane, Sutton, and Lennon Thompson; her mother, Clover Stayskal; and her brother, Byron “Butch” Stayskal. She also leaves behind many extended family members and friends she held close to her heart.
A true jack of all trades, there was nothing Kisi couldn’t do. She was a master electrician, admired for her skill, dedication and remarkable problem-solving ability. Adventurous at heart, she even spent time in Israel working on a kibbutz, embracing new challenges and experiences with the same energy she carried throughout her life. She cared deeply for those around her, always finding ways to make even the smallest moments special. Her laughter, generosity and warmth brought joy to countless lives. She was the definition of a “just-because” person—always making, giving and surprising others simply because she cared.
She had a gift for helping others, whether through her work, her kindness, or her passion for running estate sales—where she loved connecting with people and uncovering treasures that told stories. Kisi also loved the outdoors, spending time with her husband and family fishing, hunting and kayaking. Even in her final days, she was able to share one last hunt with her husband through the Ranching for Wildlife program—an experience she had patiently awaited for 27 years.
In 2023, Kisi was honored as the Honorary Survivor for the Pueblo Relay for Life, recognizing her strength, courage and unwavering spirit in the face of cancer.
Her love of sewing, her time with her grandchildren and her pride in completing projects reflected her creative, caring nature. Kisi will be remembered for the love she poured into the lives of those around her and for the way she made everyone feel valued and cherished.
A celebration of Kisi’s life will be held at Imperial Memorial Gardens on Thursday, October 9, at 1 PM. In keeping with her wishes, guests are encouraged to dress casually. Please consider a donation to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Kisi’s honor.
