Lois I. Martin, born June 17, 1940, in Pueblo, CO, to the union of Elmer T. Richie Jr. and Dorothy Crosby, passed away Oct. 22, 2024. Preceded in death by her parents and loving husband Bobby Martin of 45 years. She is survived by two daughters, Pamela McKee, Pueblo, CO and Kathryn Sterlitz Oburn, San Antonio, TX; grandchildren, Leanne Martin Gradel, Lindsay Martin, Justin McKee, Colby and Caleb Sterlitz; and great-grandchildren, Brianna Hernandez, Caleb, Caylee, Caden, and Kaitlynn Gradel; sisters Sharon Moore, Beverly Johnson; and brother Kevin Crosby.
Lois spent part of her childhood in the small town of Swallows where she enjoyed outdoor activities such as trail rides and off-road tote goat adventures. Neighboring Native American Tribes, she began her lifelong fascination with their culture. As she grew older, she discovered talents in oil painting, ceramics, and creating stained glass. Her hobbies included reading, gardening and collecting small knick knacks and figurines of snails and mice. She enjoyed cooking, especially Italian dishes and desserts, and her favorite pastime was playing Rummy. Lois loved animals and raised several Weenie Dogs. She liked to travel, treasured making new memories, and spending time with friends and family. She had an amazing sense of humor and the sweetest smile that would light up any room. All who knew Lois loved her and the family will deeply miss her tender heart and caring soul.
Visitation will be at the funeral home T.G. McCarthy Rose Chapel at 9am on Wed., Nov. 6th with Funeral service at 10am. Interment will follow at Swallows Cemetery. Those who wish to make a memorial contribution in memory of Lois I. Martin may do so to the Meals on Wheels Foundation.
