

Lori Renee Knuth (Vasile), 56, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and educator, passed away Dec. 31, 2023. Born Jan. 29, 1967, to Patty and Sam Vasile, Lori was the second of three children. Lori married David Knuth on June 27, 1987, and welcomed three children, Kyle, Ashley, and Sara and raised them at their beloved home in Pueblo West. Lori was known for her kindness and warmth and will be remembered forever for being the ultimate grandmother. She had a special knack for details, ensuring that every aspect of her life was extra special for all around her. After graduating from Pueblo County High School in 1985, Lori attended the University of Southern Colorado in Pueblo to earn a degree in education and later earned her master’s degree in education from Grand Canyon University. She was a dedicated educator at Sierra Vista Elementary School and District 70 for 29 years, teaching kindergarten, first grade, third grade and reading, taking pride in the generations of readers she taught. She retired in 2021 and served as substitute teacher for a time following.
Lori was preceded in death by her father, Sam Vasile, in-laws Harold Knuth and Darla Knuth, grandparents John and Elsie Dolak, Rose Vasile, Clayton and Margene Weber, and Catherine Nelson; nephew Gavin Vasile, and special aunts and uncles, Joseph Vasile, Matthew (Connie) Vasile, Charles Vasile, Frank Vasile, Jr., Josephine Vasile, Frank Riggio, Pat (Joe) Mueller, Jean (Ken) Penn, Catherine “Chubby” (Tom) Ames, Joan (Fred) Vaught, Donald “Butch” Nelson, and Marvin “Moke” Nelson; and cousins Frankie Riggio and Donna Tate and numerous more.
She is survived by her husband of 36 years David Knuth; children, Kyle (Kathleen) Knuth, Ashley (Victor) Martinez, and Sara Knuth; her mother Patty Vasile; grandchildren Emrie, Avery, Bennett, and Scarlett; brothers Kirk (Marleine) Vasile and Greg (Andrea) Vasile; mother-in-law Diane Knuth; in-laws Loretta Vasile and Joe Howes, Diana (Bill) Centa and Donna Knuth; special nieces and nephews Isabella Vasile, Dustin Knuth, Cody Knuth, Charles Yonts, Madeline Cooper, and Natasha Yonts; cousins Dan (Glen) Vaught, Rick (Sonja) Vaught, Cathy Ames-Farmer and Rod Johnson, Linda (Carl) Buford and many more; aunts and uncles Jon (Sandy) Dolak, Bob (Charlene) Nelson, Shirley Vasile, and many beloved friends.
A funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1145 S. Aspen Road in Pueblo, on Jan. 12, starting with a Rosary at 9:20 a.m. followed by Mass at 10 a.m. A dinner reception will follow immediately. Private interment in the family plot at the Silver Cliff Cemetery will follow at a later date.
