

Marilyn Jean Thurston, 79, passed away Nov 16, 2015 in Pueblo, Colorado. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Thurston, 10 months earlier, following over 60 wonderful years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Judy Hamilton; her parents, Daniel and Dollie Oakley; her brother Dan Oakley Jr and sisters Dorothy Klock and Helen Oakley. She is survived by a large family, including three sons: Bob (Debbie), Randy, Ron (Kim); grandchildren, Karen Roush, Krista Brewer, Brenda Wallerstedt, Brian Thurston, Jarod Neelan, Nikki Thurston, Leslie Thurston, Mathew Hamilton, Cody Hamilton and Seth Hamilton; and 8 great-grandchildren. Marilyn struggled with numerous major medical issues for the last 35 years, and was the longest survivor of carcinoid cancer in the world. But through all her challenges and struggles, she kept a positive and hopeful attitude. She developed a lot of close person friends due to her infectious love for life. Her story was recently featured in a newspaper article about how “hope” had helped her make it through her incredible health issues. Her positive attitude has served as an inspiration and provided hope to thousands of others facing the same battle. She and Charles shared a long life of adventures and fun, as well as working together to overcome challenges. They shared a strong love and devotion to their family. They left behind fond memories of family vacations, times of fishing and camping and exciting trips to Las Vegas. Together, they had a wonderfully full and joyful life. Visitation will be 3:00-4:30 PM Sunday Nov 22, 2015 and the Funeral Service will be at 1PM Monday Nov 23, 2015, both at Imperial Funeral Home Chapel. Interment, Imperial Memorial Gardens.
