

Marvin L. Goodman, 92, passed away February 25, 2017. He is preceded in death by his wife Jeanette Goodman and sister Melba (Cleo) Meyers. He is survived by his sister Mary Walker; Children Lynette (Tom) Reyes and Jerry (Becky) Goodman; Grandchildren Geoffrey (Anastasia) Ekman and Danette Ekman Herrera; Great-grandchildren Paulina and Olivia Ekman. Marvin was born in Utica, KS on February 22 1925. He graduated in 1942 from Goodland High School in Goodland, KS. Marvin was employed from November 1943 to March 1944 as a firefighter for Rock Island Railroad and enlisted in the US Navy June 1944 to serve in campaigns in the Pacific theater aboard the destroyer USS Sproston DD577. He was honorably discharged in 1946 and continued to serve in the Naval reserve from 1947-1951. While acquiring his private pilot’s license in 1948 he met the love of his life, Jeanette Elbert, a private pilot and registered nurse. They were married August 1949. Marvin completed cosmetology and barber school in 1947 and owned and operated Marvin’s Hair Salon in Pueblo from 1947 to 1990. He then semi-retired as a part-time stylist in 1990 and continued to work until 2009 when he was 84 years old. His hobbies and passions were golf, flying, boating, and spending time at the cabin he built in Westcliffe. Many thanks to the care provided by the caregivers at Sharmar and Suncrest Hospice.
