

Mary Ann (Archires) Montanari, 90, went home on January 8, 2012. She is preceded in death by her parents, Calogero and Maria Benfatti Archires; husband, Paul J; son, Paul L; siblings, Calogero Arciresi, Carl Arciresi, Tony Archires, Nicoletta Archires, and Lillian Marroney. Mary is survived by her children, Charlene (Rocky) Ligrani and Gina (Ken) Hayworth; grandchildren, Roxy (Kelly) Ligrani, Jarrod (Annie Baily) Ligrani, Anna Marie Massara; sisters, Rose Giannetta and Grace Luke; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. Mary grew up in a loving family on Smelter Hill graduating from Centennial in 1940. She worked as assistant manager at Lerner’s in the 1940’s before becoming a cashier at East High School for 20 years until her retirement. Mary loved working in her rose garden, doing needlecrafts, and sewing for herself and her daughters. She enjoyed dancing with her husband of 60 years and their trips to Laughlin. Mary was best known for her Italian cookies and food. From family to workers, no one ever left her house hungry. She was a loving wife, mother, and Nonni and will be deeply missed.
