Mary Vail was called home to the Lord on February 13, 2025 at the age of 95. Mary was born on October 5, 1929 to the union of Henry and Emiliana Roybal, whom she considered great parents. She attended grade school and high school in Rocky Ford, CO., graduating in 1948 with honors, at which time she received a scholarship to attend The Saint Paul School of Nursing in Pueblo. The first year was spent at Pueblo Jr. College, which at that same time obtained an abundance of experience at St. Mary Corwin Hospital. She graduated in 1952.
Mary was Director of Nursing at the Naval Hospital in Camp Pendleton, CA, Director of Nurses at the Colorado State Hospital, Lead Nurse at Ft. Logan Hospital, and retired from Wheatridge State Home and Training School.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Emiliana, husband Edward Bauman, son Robert Michael Martinez, granddaughter Melissa DeHerrera, father of her children Robert E. Martinez, and brothers and sister-in-law's Raymond (Dale), Albert (Erminda), Phil (Beatrice), Joe (Erma), John (Marie), Tony (Gladys), and Vince (Lucy) Roybal.
She leaves to cherish her memory, daughter's Veronica (Martin) Gonzales, Yvonne (LeRoy) Martinez, grandchildren Michael (Beth) Gonzales, Stephanie (Eric) Ortiz, Chris (Crystal) Chavez, Linda (Brandon) Hagans, great-grandchildren Dezi (Joe) Ortiz, Dayton (Amber Ramirez) and Ariana Ortiz, Brandon Jr. and Ethan Hagans, Riley and Aden Chavez, and great-great-granddaughters Gabriella and Jasmine Ortiz, as well as a host of family and friends.
A Rosary will be held on Friday, March 7 2025, at Our Lady of the Meadows Catholic Church in Pueblo, CO at 9:30am, followed a Memorial Mass at 10am. Inurnment services will take place at Imperial Cemetery immediately following Mass. Mary requested that her death be a celebration of her life. Please join family and friends to remember the kindness, caring and generosity she loved to give.
